Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the 1992 movie)
I know, this movie is 13 years old, but I really think it's underrated.
Yes, the TV series is WAY better, but I don't think the movie was as bad as everyone says.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the predecessor to BTVS the TV series, begins with Buffy while
she's living in L.A. and is just finding out she's the 'new' Slayer. She has her first watcher, Merrick, until he is killed
by Lothos, the vampire who's after Buffy. Kristy Swanson originated the role of Buffy in this movie, but I think Sarah Michelle
Gellar does a better job as Buffy in the TV series.
The movie ends with Buffy destroying her L.A. high school (Hemery High)'s gym while fighting
the vampires, and the TV series picks up with Buffy and her newly-divorced/separated mother moving to Sunnydale, CA where
Buffy now attends Sunnydale High.
I know, a lot of background, but initially, I think this is a great movie. Not as horror/suspence/action
as the TV series, written more for teenagers of the early '90s and more campy, yes, but an all together good time!
